Teaching Moments

We were having a problem getting Issy to clean her room. So we got some poster board and made a chart where she put a sticker on it everytime time she cleaned her room. After twenty stickers, she then could go and pick out a toy at the store. She loved the idea and she worked for almost two months to get this done. (We didn't count the times that I helped her clean her room). Early on in her chart we were at Target and she saw this toy she wanted. I told her we would have to wait until she filled her chart up. Everytime we went back to Target she would go down find that toy and look at it and say I can't get this until my chart is full of stickers. We it came time to go to the store and get her toy she went straight for the horse she wanted and got it. She was so happy to have earned it herself. It was such a great teaching moment and now we have a big chart for her to earn money towards our Disneyland trip coming up in May. I am so grateful for such a cute and special little girl and for these moments that make me feel so blessed to be a mother.:)

YAY for incentives and rewards!!! That is AWESOME that she'll clean her own room!!! It was so impressive to hear you say, "Don't clean up before you go, Issy will clean her room to earn stickers." Way to go!
