The second day we were able to go for a tour of the White House. Our friend got us a private tour which was pretty cool. We got to bypass the lines and security with our tour guide Anthony. He works on the Presidents Secret Service Detail as a driver for him. We were able to see stuff that everyone sees on the normal tour but we also got to see the private Presedential Theatre as well. We got to go beyond the ropes and see more details to certain parts of the White House. About half way through our tour they secret service ushered us all out of the White House because the president was about to give a press conference. His Chief of Staff retired. We got to quickly see the Press Conference room before being ushered out which was cool. As we were on our way out, another guy Jamie who is part of the internal Secret Service said we could come back a couple hours later and he would give us more of a tour. We weren't going to pass that up. So we walked around downtown DC for a while and then headed back for the rest of our tour. Jamie ended up taking us beyond the ropes and walls to the Kitchen area. Huge kitchen. We also got to see one of the only walls still visible from when the British burned the White House in 1812. That was awesome. Then we were lead into the store for White House employees and residents only. All their things you could buy had a special Executive Symbol on them. We of course got a few things there and some suviners to bring home. After that, Jamie took us upstairs to a private area and we were about to get the West Wing Tour but then again the President decided to have another Press Conference. So Jamie took us out a side door. Where that side door was, we were able to see out the door to the Rose Garden and Presidentail Corders. That was pretty cool. When we walked out the door we were on the side of the White House where no pedestrians are allowed. There was on the back steps on the Treasury Building the Liberty Bell which had been brought there to be cleaned. We got to touch it and stuff. IT was awesome! Overall we had such a great time. How many people can say they got kicked out by the President twice in one day of the White House? Needless to say we were pretty tired after that day but we had such a great time! Something we will never forget.
There rest of the weekend was perfect weather and Ty and I were able to go explore DC. We saw the Capital, went in a few of the Smithsonian Museums, saw the Freddy Roosevelt and Lincoln Memorials and were able to go to a Spy Museum. We were also able to spend some time with Ty's boss and co-workers around DC as well. We had such a great trip and I am just so grateful we got to both experience DC together for the first time!:)
