8K Torchlight Run

In my quest to run and finish my first half marathon, I am doing some smaller races to prepare my body and mind for it. My friend Sommer suggested doing the 8K Torchlight Run which takes you all along the streets of Seattle and is a fun and challenging 5 mile run. So, 6 of us ladies all got together and traveled to Seattle together and ran the race. It was so cool to see how many people were there and how many runners are here in Seattle. The beginning of the race you run up the Alaskan Viaduct(sp?) and you get to see the sound and it was beautiful. The last mile or so of the race you run all along where the Torchlight parade is and there are thousands of people who are set up ready to watch the parade. They are cheering on all the runners and giving high fives. It was very cool to see! This was the longest I had run and it sure was a eye opener to me that I can really do a half marathon. It won't be easy and it will be challenging but I love seeing how I can push myself and accomplish new things. I ran in a little over 53 minutes. Not the fastest at all. For me though it is all about just finishing the race. I can't wait to run it next year!:)Me, Erin, Libby, Jen, Kelly and Sommer after the race.Getting some grub after the race!:) We all had a great time!:)
